Chopra Wins Mercedes
In a nail-biting end to the PGA TOUR's 2008 season-opener, FootJoy wearer Daniel Chopra two-putted for birdie on the par 5 ninth to edge FootJoy ambassador Steve Stricker on the fourth extra hole of the Mercedes-Benz Championship. It marked the second career PGA TOUR title for Chopra who qualified for this winners-only event following his maiden victory at the Ginn sur Mer Classic, the next to last tournament of 2007.
Both players finished regulation at 274 (-18) with Chopra firing a closing 66 (-7) and Stricker a sizzling come-from-behind 64 (-9) that included three birdies over the final four holes. Stricker tied for tournament's best round with fellow FootJoy player Hunter Mahan, who moved from T16 to T5 with his Sunday 64.
Chopra split time this week in both DryJoys and FJ Golf Athletics shoes. His glove of choice was StaSof, the #1 Cabretta leather glove in the world.
