As you may know, FJ has embarked on a NEW Shoe Fitting expedition this season. Our goal? To optimize the fit of as many Ontario/Quebec golfers shoes as possible resulting in improved comfort and performance.
Earlier this spring we hit the asphalt with our FJ Shoe Fitting Van run by our two FJ Shoe Fitting Experts, Rob Kenny and Kyle McGuigan. The van is visiting a number of public and private golf facilities across Ontario and Quebec during the 2015 Canadian golf season. At each stop our FJ Shoe Fitting Experts optimize the fit of each golfer who books an appointment.
This past weekend we visited The Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario where Mike McAllister of ChapeauNoirGolf.com was included on our list of appointments. Mike has been a soft goods contributor for PGATour.com, ClubLink Life Magazine and back9network.com over the years...in short, he knows his golf shoes. Below is his review of the FJ Shoe Fitting experience that he recently posted on ChapeauNoirGolf.com.
Does the shoe fit? A visit to the FJ Fitting VanBy Mike McAllister
If you've played golf, you've probably played through sore feet. According to FootJoy, that's because up to 70 percent of us are wearing ill-fitting golf shoes. As a result, we're suffering through an unnecessary array of shoe-related pain. From pinching, to binding, and slipping, a golf shoe that doesn't fit quickly leads to blisters and discomfort, and subsequently to inefficient weight transfer, which creates sub-optimal ball striking conditions. In the past, I've been guilty of fitting myself, or not fitting myself at all. The former coming in big box golf stores, the later coming as I ordered online. But with a trip to Northern Ireland just a few weeks away, a comfortable, walkable pair of golf shoes was at the top of my must-have list -- which is why I was interested to visit the FootJoy Fitting Team at Marshes Golf Club , a public / resort Robert Trent Jones design in the west Ottawa suburb of Kanata. Inside I met FJ Performance Fitter Rob Kenny, who has been on a crusade of sorts, educating golfers throughout Ontario and Quebec about how a golf shoe should fit. I arrived at the fitting pretty confident I knew my size. However, a detailed measurement for both length and width, and an unhurried progression through subtle options in size, width, and style options, the DNA, in an 8.5 (regular width) won the day. Though it may not sound revolutionary, I'd likely have never tried the 8.5 had I been left to my own devices. In my mind, I've always been a 9, 9.5, or a 10, depending on the variances in brand and style. But as Kenny explained, the right size won't slip, bind, or rub you the wrong way. Conversations with other golfers served by the FootJoy Fitting Team revealed similar stories -- most of us were wearing shoes that were too big.
Not entirely unlike a hockey skate fitting process, the FootJoy Fitting Team have a deeper understanding of what you should, and should not be feeling when looking for a new golf shoe. If you see the FootJoy Fitting Van roll up to your club, take the time to get fit. You might be surprised, and you'll definitely be comfortable. Watch for a follow up post in which I'll report back on how my custom fit FJ DNA's perform on course.Ask your local FJ Authorized Retailer to see if the FJ Fitting Van will be rolling up to a club near you. Also, be sure to follow @FJFittingVan on Twitter to keep up-to-date with the vans next move!
David Lingmerth won the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide with a par on the third sudden death playoff hole.
Entering the final round three strokes behind the 54-hole lead, Lingmerth shot a final round three under par 69 to enter a two man playoff. Both players split with pars on the first two playoff holes. On the third and final playoff hole Lingmerth split the fairway with his tee shot and his approach shot came to rest 30 feet behind the pin. A routine two putt sealed the victory.
Lingmerth relied on FJ ICON MyJoys golf shoes and the SciFlex Tour golf glove en route to the win.
This is Lingmerth's first PGA Tour victory.

Hometown favorite, Jimmy Walker cruised to a four stroke victory at the Valero Texas Open. Leading by four entering the final round, Walker remained steady on the difficult windswept TPC San Antonio golf course and shot even par over his first nine. The former Baylor Bear added second nine birdies at 16 and 17 to remain at the top of the leaderboard. A routine par at the last locked up the victory.
Walker relied on FJ ICON MyJoys (Thursday and Sunday) and HYPERFLEX (Friday and Saturday) en route to the victory. Also aiding Walker's grip on the tournament was the FJ StaSof golf glove, the most relied on glove on tour. Lastly, Walker stayed cool and dry in full line FJ Performance Apparel.
This is Walker's fifth PGA Tour victory in the past two seasons, the most of any PGA Tour player in the same time period. The win solidifies Walker's lead in the Fedex Cup standings and moves the 36 year-old to tenth in the Official World Golf Rankings.
